WHO IS Howard Geach ?

Howard Geach's journey into the world of tourism began in 1979. As a young mining engineering student, he discovered his passion for sharing South Africa's rich heritage while guiding tours at the Crown Mines’ Gold Mine Museum. This early spark led him to the Wilderness Leadership School, where he balanced his rigorous academic studies with field guiding across the iconic landscapes of the Pilanesberg, Timbavati, and Nylsvlei. After spending a decade working as a mining engineer for Anglo American, Howard chose to follow his true calling, co-founding the Conservation Corporation—now celebrated globally as And Beyond. This pivotal venture allowed him to help pioneer the Phinda Resource Reserve and forge groundbreaking public-private partnerships, including the first-ever operating lease over Ngala Game Lodge in Kruger National Park, before serving as CEO for the Maputo Elephant Reserve Project.

In 2014, Howard formally qualified as a Cultural Guide, dedicating the past decade to showcasing the diverse history and vibrant culture of Johannesburg and Gauteng. An easy-going nature and deep love for people define his guiding style, transforming complex concepts into deeply engaging, accessible narratives. Guests traveling with Howard can expect an immersive journey guided by one of Tripadvisor’s top five regional experts.
