Vincent Bristow

Five Star Guide

WHO IS Vincent Bristow ?

Vincent Bristow started his professional life in the corporate world. Unable to resist the call of the sea, sun and surfing he finally escaped the clutches of a highly pressurized life and went into tourism (thinking naively that this would be an easier way to live)

“While being the Botswana sales and marketing manager of the largest cement company in Africa was a wonderful experience, once our children reached high school age, difficult decisions had to be made. An opportunity to start a guest house on the Cape coast proved to be very enticing.”

There then followed several years of hard slog, building up a small guesthouse into one of the busiest self catering establishments in the area. However, Vincent is easily bored and having got the guesthouse to the top of its game, a new challenge was needed. Having guided many of his own guests around his local area, he realized that guiding was something that first and foremost he enjoyed and secondly was very good at.

Vincent then sold the guesthouse and started working earnestly towards his guiding qualifications. Vincent has now been guiding in Cape Town and further afield for close to a decade, and enjoys every minute. He estimated that he has completed close to seven hundred tours in this time.

His broad general knowledge is presented in a relaxed and friendly manner. “I encourage questions, observations and dialogue. In this way, I learn about my guests, and their interests while sharing the wonders of this corner of Africa".

For a day filled with fun, facts and folklore, a peninsular tour or city walking tour with Vincent is a great choice.

During the tour you will learn about an ecologically unique, historically pivotal and politically complex land.

Vincent is an amateur bee keeper, a (slow) runner, cyclist and canoeist, and a struggling surfer. He still listens to 60’s and 70’s rock ‘n roll, and is married with three adult children.

The Cape's most iconic places, remarkable experiences, and not-to-be-missed natural wonders are waiting for you.
